Hi, my name is Brett Tavares and I am one of the Personal Trainers here at Spectrum Fitness Consulting LLC! Throughout my life I have played multiple different sports including Basketball, Soccer and Track and like most athletes have had an injury or two along the way. That is where my love for Sports Therapy, Personal Training, and continuous learning of therapeutic exercises drove me into this field! I am always driven to get the best out of every client that I see to ensure they are progressing and working hard to the best of their ability.
I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Public Health Degree with a concentration in Community Health and Health Promotion. I am also certified as a Personal Trainer through The National Council on Strength and Fitness. I am continuing my education to further my skills and abilities where I plan to become a master trainer down the road!
After I graduated college, I worked as a Rehab Aide and an Aquatic therapy class instructor at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital where I worked closely with many populations of patients of all different types of injuries including Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy and the list goes on. I was able to gain critical knowledge on these types of injuries and help aide therapists on creating programs and helping closely with many of these patient’s sessions. As I have seen many patients with many different injuries, I’ve truly admired the determination of all of them to continue their workout programs to help aid them in everyday life situations and functioning outside of the therapy clinic. I believe that fitness is a valuable part of everyone’s life and no matter who you are or what you think your limitations are, YOU CAN DO IT!
I’ve always enjoyed being super active and getting outdoors as much as possible during my free time! The gym is a big part of my weekly schedule as I love weight lifting and running. I also enjoy a lot of outdoor activities such as kayaking, skiing, golfing, walking my dog Koa and when I get the chance I still enjoy playing pickup basketball with friends.
